The purpose of this project is to develop a social and environmental capacity evaluation for recreational backcountry camping in Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park. This project provides an evaluation for a sustainable number of campers per campsite and sustainable group sizes in the backcountry. Ultimately, this project will aid the park stewards to understand all the impacts of camping in the Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park and the types of approaches that may be applied to minimize the impact on the natural environment. However, an approved management plan is required before the park can be fully operational and for its long term management. Therefore, this project will also seek to provide recommendations and supports that a management plan is required for the future of Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park and to ensure sustainable practices are carried out in the park.
