This article discusses difference in health status between rural and urban areas of Australia, with those in rural areas showing a lowered health status. The possible reasons for this are explored, including environmental factors and risk taking behaviors. Ways in which psychosocial factors can interact with material, behavioral and sociocultural factors to contribute to health outcomes were outllined.
