A Food System is a process that aims to creat a more direct link between the producers (farmers) of food and the consumers of food.]]>
1) What invasive species have been sighted on or in lands adjacent to the HHLT properties: Fred and Pearl Barry Wetland, Barnum Creek Nature Reserve, Dahl Forest, Smith Forest, and Norah’s Island.
2) What invasive species could exist on or in lands adjacent to any of the above-mentioned properties?
3) What monitoring protocols are used by similar organizations and could be implemented by the HHLT to monitor their properties for invasive species?

The purpose of this project is to answer each of the HHLT research questions in order to better inform the land trust of the threat of invasive plants and potential ways to approach monitoring them in the future.]]>
Included in this report are an analysis of this process, written documentation, daily journals of the author's work, a review of the journals, and a project review.

A bibliography of significant material concludes the report along with several appendices.
 ]]> Host contact: Farrell, George]]> This paper looks extensively at the history associated with the mentally challenged, including social attitudes, governmental policies, local history, and personal stories. Chapter one presents the theoretical framework and explores bioregional links, the concept of community, and inclusion versus exclusion. Influences outside Haliburton such as society's attitudes towards mental disability, social policy from 1950-1973, and governmental policy in relation to creating inclusive community are considered in chapter two. The final section of the paper deals with the situation in Haliburton itself focusing on the work of the Association for Community Living as it and other social services attempt to create and build a healthy, sustainable community.
